Too Many Characters, 2021

$1,100.00

ELIOT RATTLE
Graphite on watercolor paper
24 x 32 inches
unique, framed

This drawing, with its cog-like characters and connections, is animated and mechanical, like a narrative factory. It reflects the ways we have all reacted to a world of new lines drawn around us and expanses of space between us, testing or reinforcing relationships while often creating unique and surprising ones in the process. These faces, both alive and disembodied, play roles in each other's existence with or without knowing it, while the beginning sits calmly at the center.

Eliot Rattle is the second artist of Upper Market Gallery's Studio Residency program located in the city's North Beach Neighborhood.
