UPPER MARKET GALLERY joins forces with the talented Spike Milliken for the gallery’s 8th solo exhibition. His current work—a series of graphite drawings “Hard Times,” aspires to be slightly more beautiful than sad and was begun in 2020.

Spike Milliken was born in Pleasant Hill, California, in 1972 and lives in San Francisco. He attended the Palmer School for Girls and Boys, dropped out of high school at 15, and earned his BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and his MFA from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. He has worked as a product designer for Sony Metreon, as an artist-in-residence and exhibition designer at Zeum in San Francisco, and as a staff member at Creative Growth in Oakland.
